On Pinterest, users ‘Close-up’ on Pins to evaluate, refine, and take action on an idea.
However, as we introduced more content types, UI and interaction models became inconsistent due to siloed and separate team optimizations. The result is an unpredictable user experience – forcing users to learn/re-learn how to navigate Pinterest, rather than find what they’re looking for. Ad impressions are also impacted negatively as new modules push related Pins further down.

- Boosts ad visibility by minimizing visual clutter
- Creates a baseline for a shared codebase to accelerate innovation
